What do you think is the primary reason behind the Big 12 changes?

Kim Mulkey says it's greed. Some mention the Big 12's "archaic" television contract. Others have pointed fingers at Colorado, Nebraska or Texas.

As with any question about the Big 12, who cares. Again I say there are other more important issues facing Waco, Texas and the United States. Athletes are at the bottom of the list, and their ego gets in the way.

Money and UT's greed. The Horns are so short sighted that they'll shoot themselves in the foot in order to pick up a penny.

Kim, give us a break about greed. Can we see your contract that you signed after you proved yourself. Its all about the money. SHOW ME THE MONEY. The football program has to be viable and all the other sports really do not matter. Nebraska football makes money, all of their other sports are awful. Yet the Big10 wanted them...

I love coach Kim but this isn't about greed, it's about keeping athletic programs in the black. With million dollar salaries for coaches (including some of our beloved Baylor coaches) and spending millions to keep up with the facility race in order to be competitive in recruiting, most NCAA programs lose millions of dollars a year. This is causing significant drain on university budgets and increased student tuition and activitie fees. While coaches are highly paid and get incredible perks, faculty members are being furloughed, layed off, taking pay cuts, maintaining heavier teaching loads, teaching larger classes (often in buildings that are in dire need of repair), and are under increasinng pressure to bring in external funding. It's about time "big time" athletic departments start earning their keep. If aligning with a mega-conference helps more athletic departments break even (and reduce the burden on faculty and students to pay for them), then its in the university's best interest to do so. Unfortunately, it appears that because Baylor football is not competitive and attracting enough fan interest to make it attractive to large conferences (and the television market), Baylor may be left out in the cold like TCU, Houston, SMU, and Rice were when the SWC folded. The big losers in this is Baylor basketball, baseball, and softball who are competitive but can't pull the load for a football program that has struggled to even be competitive in Big 12 games.
