Iced tea edition: Sweet or unsweetened? Which Waco restaurant serves the best?
Nothing quite like the perfect glass of iced tea to cool off in the summer. Perfect, that is, if it's brewed and doctored properly. That brings two questions to our lips in this iced tea edition of IMO:
Which do you prefer, sweet or unsweetened?
And which Waco restaurant serves the best iced tea?
It'd be sweet of you to comment on previous IMO questions, too!
bush s is the best !! I really like the fact that they were the first in waco to have all their restaurants with filtered water that is what gives them that extra special flavor
Bush's are yoiu kidding me .50cent tea anytime of day
Positively COTTON PATCH on Bosque. Went there to eat the CFS Special from 4PM and on on Mondays and their sweetened tea is like Mother used to make. DELICIOUS.
The best tea unsweetened or sweetened is Bush's chicken
Chick Fil A and McAlisters. Bush's Tea has changed allot. It taste like sugar water with a tint of brown. Its like they are trying to save money on the tea bags. I'd rather pay more and get better tea at Chick fil a or McAlisters.
Chick fil A and McAlisters.
China Spring Bush's Sweet Tea - so good.
Taco Casa in Hewitt...crazy good and cheap.
I agree with most that McAlisters has the best sweet tea. Other than them, I normally just get regular tea and either add splenda or go unleaded all together.
Sweet...Always!! Even better with a little bit of lemon or lime!! Make sure you try the sweet tea at Fazoli's by Baylor!! The Best! Cheddars & McAlisters also have great sweet tea!!
McAllister's sweet tea is the best! Not too sweet and always fresh!!
I was raised on sweet tea but today as a diabetic I must drink unsweet and the best unsweet tea consistantly in Waco is McAlisters
Rosa's ! Unsweet I prefer, but both is very good at Rosas on Franklin! All I drink is tea and water....and I want the best! 2nd favorite is Bush's.
Schmaltz's makes a wonderful tea, it is also not too sweet. Some of the other tea's mentioned have way too much sugar. The tea at Schmaltz'z is also very consistent, it has the same great taste anytime we go there.
Ridgecrest County Club has THE BEST tea in Waco hands down. I prefer sweet tea that uses cane sugar only...too many places now use corn syrup when making large batches and it just isn't as good. The tea needs to be orange pekoe and on the strong side and hot, add the sugar for complete perfection, then iced and served immediately.
Sweet tea @ Easy Fisherman is really good.
If you ask my husband, kids and their friends, my sweet tea from home rules... Otherwise, cozy Cafe in Mart. Bush's can't compete anymore. Their recipe must be off.
Hands down, McAlisters' has the best unsweet tea!
Sweet like me of course...and Bush's for sure by far has the Best Tea in Texas!
Bushes sweet tea with a splash of lemon aid. @Harley Johnson, I would choose a restaurant based on their tea and "Tea" is my favorite meal. For example Pei Wei has horrible tea and they are an Asian restaurant! I drink water or coke when I go there. I also order a gourmet black tea from the internet for use at home. Lipton's doesn't cut it for me. If I ask for hot tea in a good restaurant and they don't bring me a selection of fine teas to choose from I am VERY unhappy. A teabag packaged by a coffee service company is just plain bad in my book. The right tea is better than a fine wine for me. I NEVER drink coffee and don't really like the tea at Starbucks.
the sweet tea at McAlisters
I'm new to the area and still seeking out places that filter their water...not sure HOW the city of waco gets by with providing the SWILL the call water but that's another topic all together. I will definately try the Hewitt Taco Casa...Bush's is good, but if you don't cut the sweet with some un-sweet, it could throw you into a diabetic coma!
i agree with you lisa, happy wok is off the chain!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is such a weighty and important issue... Just a notch below the Big 12 flurry. I drink unsweetened tea when I drink it and I doubt that anyone would choose a restaurant just because of their tea.
I like unsweetened tea and in my opinion, Bush's is the best and the best value for the money. My second favorite would be McAlister's but it is a little more expensive.
Wendy's unsweetened tea is very good, brewed just right, Budh's used to have very good sweet and unsweet tea, but these days i guess they use unfiltered waco water which just makes it bad with an after taste
I grew up drinking sweet tea, at least as sweet as the rationed sugar would allow, and please no saccharin. Over the years, I've grown to enjoy either un-sweet of gently sweetened with sugar, not any of the phony artificial stuff. The tea I make is by far better than any I've had anywhere.
Sweet. Taco Casa in Hewitt is pretty good and cheap! Bush's is no good anymore!
McAlisters, has the best in town, rosa's is second just right either way bushs used to be good now its all sugar and nasty waco water
Sweet tea all the way!! The best is McAlister's with Cheddars being a close second. Sweet tea from Bush's is a health hazard.
Tie...Cheddar's and Bush's.
Casa De Castillio/Mcalister's UNSWEET
Unsweet, Amelia's on the Avenue.
I drink Unsweetened tea, I do like McAlister's. Never liked or trust any sweet tea anywhere. On other hand, my mom loves Wendy's unsweetened tea.
Cheddars, Sweet tea of course!
McAlisters - unsweet!
Most restaurant tea has a soured/left too long in the pot taste to me, especially from the fast food joints ... haven't really found any I care for around here from other eating establishments ... it's either too sweet or bitter tasting ... I like my homemade best.
Yall got to try the sweet tea at Happy Wok on 19th! It's so good, i also like the tea at Cracker Barrel!
I always ask for 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweet cause they all make 'em too sweet for me. Bush's is the best.
There are a lot of places that brew great iced tea in Waco; however, my favorite restaurant one's are the rasberry tea at Olive Garden and SouperSalad. Bush's has by far the BEST chicken in town; but, their sweet tea is far to TOO sweet unless you need a sugar rush. Most of the time I drink "over-the-counter/out of the store" Lipton diet green tea.
Cheddars has some good ol sweet tea!!
Another vote for McAlister's sweet tea.
I prefer unsweet. The best place to get tea is where the waiter or waitress can remember what you have.
My Tea is the best sweet or unsweet...
Luby's unsweet Bush's tea is nasty
Bush's on Bosque. Unsweet. (I can feel the enamel coming off my teeth with the sweet stuff. But the unsweet is a little taste of heaven.) It's the best even among the numerous Bush's I've tried, which are (as others have pointed out) not consistent.
Taco Casa must sell a lot of tea.....their empty orange/yellow cups are all over Hewitt! I always order unsweet tea so that I can sweeten it to my taste.
Cathay House has the best unsweetened tea. My favorite by far!
Sweet Tea! of course, this is the south! I agree with Kerry, Bush’s is good but sometimes it’s not very sweet and other times it’s like straight sugar. I’m gonna try Taco Casa’s Sweet tea. I heard that the new Chicken Finger place has good Sweet Tea, have not been yet.
Hands down! The Grape Wine Bistro has the best Iced tea in town. Served in real glasses and unlimited refill. Best service in town, too. Unsweet, naturally.
McAlisters or Roadhouse. Bush's sweet tea has become overloaded
Taco Casa In Hewitt.
Chick-Fil-A & McAlisters! Bush's is good, but not always consistent.
TACO CASA in Hewitt..better and cheaper than Bush's!!
Bush's Sweet Tea, of course!!
