Tracking down Whole Foods rumors in Waco

Rumors persist that Austin-based Whole Foods Market is eyeing the Waco market, with one report placing a potential future home near Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center located at State Highway 6 and the Interstate 35 frontage road.

DiamondBack’s gets events coordinator

Meghan Taylor has been named the wedding and events planner for DiamondBack’s steakhouse, 217 Mary Ave., and a related special events venue called The Hall at RiverSquare Center, reportedly leaving Ridgewood Country Club to take the new position.

Hobby Lobby reopens after storm damage

The Hobby Lobby craft store in Parkdale shopping center, Bosque Boulevard at Valley Mills Drive, has reopened for business following several days of repairs made necessary by the violent thunderstorms that assaulted Waco on Oct. 2.

Gander Mountain opens to crowd of awaiting customers

Gander Mountain quietly opened the doors to its new 52,000-square-foot outdoors store Tuesday, and reviews from those who entered generally were positive, with shoppers saying they appreciate having another option for sporting goods and marveling at the number of guns and T-shirts available.

Tommy Hilfiger opens at Outlets at Hillsboro

Tommy Hilfiger Clearance, which offers discounts of up to 60 percent on Tommy Hilfiger-branded merchandise, has opened a 6,100-square-foot store in the Outlets at Hillsboro mall on Interstate 35. It is located between Payless Shoesource and Aeropostale, the mall has announced.

Waco-based Spenco, which is known for its line of footcare products, has signed a sponsorship agreement with Joseph Gray, four-time “Mountain Runner of the Year,” eight-time “USA National Champion” and the first African-American to win the USA National Mountain Running Championship.

New grocery chain not slated for former Karr Motors site

As the Tribune-Herald reported Wednesday, Austin-based SCC Development wants to bring an In-N-Out Burgers restaurant to Waco and is negotiating to place it at Valley Mills and Lake Air drives, where it will demolish the old Richard Karr Motors building.

Baylor football fans unable to park in vacant H-E-B store’s lot
