"Blur Circle"

Burton Rose (right, Matthew Brumlow) shares his experience with grief with Jill Temple (Cora Vander Broek) in the Waco-made "Blur Circle."

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" swamps movie theaters this week and while that whale will dominate movie-goers attention, there's a worthwhile Waco-made minnow playing in town on June 4.

Indie film "Blur Circle," directed by Baylor University Film and Digital Media department chair Chris Hansen and shot largely in the Waco area, returns to the Waco Hippodrome, 724 Austin Ave., for a 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, showing.

The film, about a mother's attempt to come to grips with her missing young son, opened this year's Deep in the Heart Film Festival at the Hippodrome in February.

It won best feature film honors as well as the audience award for best feature with lead actress Cora Vander Broek winning best actress.
