Those who missed this spring's McLennan Community College's "Concert For Kenny," a guitar-heavy tribute to beloved Waco guitarist (and retired MCC guitar instructor) Kenny Frazier have a second chance to sample the music from that concert.

MCC guitar instructor and arranger Jon Fox has recorded his six arrangements for jazz guitar ensemble (five guitars, bass, drums) from that concert and put them on his website. He plays all the guitar lines, joined by fellow MCC music faculty members Dick Gimble on bass and Jon Kutz on drums.

It was recorded at Gimble's Runnin' Bird Studios and Waco studio engineer Steve Rosas mastered the single.

You can contact Fox about his arrangements and scores for the six songs — the main reason behind the project, he confided to me — or listen online. It's not Kenny playing, but for those of us who know him, Fox's arrangements make it easy to imagine him doing so.
