Singers Holly Tucker and Wade Bowen, both Waco natives, are adding their touch to Christmas music with each artist releasing a new Christmas single.
Tucker’s new song, released last month and available on iTunes (http://bit.ly/1bZwEK8), is “All About A Baby,” and got mentioned this week on NBC’s vocal competition series “The Voice.” Tucker won a national audience with her run on “The Voice” last season, making it to the final six finalists. Here’s the music video that went up on YouTube this afternoon (http://youtu.be/CFou30v7O5I).
The Baylor student recorded “All About A Baby” in Nashville earlier this fall, part of a studio session for an upcoming four-song EP.
Tucker and her parents Johnny and Cheryl will provide post-show music at the Brazos Theatre Group’s performances of the radio play “It’s A Wonderful Life” Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14, at downtown Waco’s Woolworth Building, 605 Austin Ave.
Texas country singer-songwriter Bowen has a new Christmas song out on iTunes as well: his version of “O Holy Night” (http://bit.ly/1fnMXiN).
Bowen’s getting positive buzz about a previous single, “Songs About Trucks” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNQU-nIvITU), which argues the opposite of what its title might suggest: a return to more traditional country where the subject is someone at a bar mourning a heartbreak rather than a Friday night party in a pickup.
It’s got one of the best lines I’ve heard in a recent country song: “I want to get drunk/But not in a pasture.”
May Wade’s tribe increase.
