Coming in the formidable shadow of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" this Friday (well, Thursday night) is the highly rated "The Disaster Artist" with James Franco directing and playing Tommy Wiseau, the eccentric creator/producer of "The Room," considered by many one of the worst movies ever made.

For fans of animation and family films, "Ferdinand" also is arriving this week.

The flip side of good movies opening this week, of course, are good movies leaving. On that side of the ledger are "Lady Bird," "Three Billboards" and "Roman J. Israel, Esq."which end their time in Waco Thursday (and probably Thursday afternoon at that).

Will they return in January if they land any Oscar nominations? Perhaps, but as with most movies in Waco, better to see them while they're in town than gamble that they'll come back later . . .
