Crazy from the heat
Clearly, the triple digits this week have turned all your brains to mush. (I, of course, am impervious as my brain has been mush for a long time)
Reporters are nearly dropping like flies with heat malaise and those of us toughing it out are just plain silly. The refined, button down-shirted JB even devolved to giggles reading the comment on this blog, “And now I gotta go. Why? ‘Cause crack don’t smoke itself!”
Apparently JB’s silly fever lasted into the night and infected the dinner conversation of he and his girlfriend. JB decided crack is hilarious (see, I’m not the only one who finds hard drugs amusing) and that there should be a new business catch phrase — “Sometimes you just gotta smoke the crack.”
i.e. — sometimes you’ve just gotta make the hard, risky, possibly dangerous and stupid decision. Q— “Should we go to war in Iraq?” A—“Hey, sometimes you’ve just gotta smoke the crack.”
There has also been some humorous mention of Pepto Bismol bottles around here (who’s been reading the news and gets that reference?)
And as for you guys, ummm … you’re nuts. I have no idea what the wives tales are about eating ice or popping bubble wrap. I’d love to be clued in, unless you plan on doing so with another reference that I don’t get. And I don’t know what the rest of you are talking about either, though I think it’s quite possible that some of you are experiencing dementia due to heat stroke. Please get help. I’m worried about you :)
P.S. for the guy last week who thought I should be stung, I know that’s probably supposed to be a dig, but I find myself strangely flattered. (Maybe I’m not impervious to the mercury fueled madness.)

The Knights of SWBP totally get the Pepto Bismal reference … hilarious. Pepto can be self-administered anywhere, even in one’s own vehicle, apparently. I wish I worked with clever people like you.

Ouch … my spelling of the pink stuff is abysmol!
:) I meant Pepto Bismol. Anyway, j.b., your shirts don’t button down? Are they the European kind that button across? If so, I would like the name of your tailor, if just to shake hands (not Pepto Bismol bottles).

I had to correct the estimable Miss Gragg…The “button-down” refers to the collar. What’s the sense in that? I prefer to let my collars flap freely in the wind.

Welcome home Wendy! It didn’t get hot till you got back and now frumor (oh, you’ll figure out that contraction) has it that Baylor is burning??? Only with sanctity, piety, virginity and oh who the hell am I kidding…they’re college kids. Here’s to BU, have a rock on me!

After they close the failed GL Wiley (and lock the doors); the Wiley school building will become the newest of East Waco’s empty, rotting buildings. First the vandals will break the windows and steal anything that’s not nailed-down. Then the East Waco CRACK addicts will have a new vacant, abandoned building to “lay-out” and smoke their East Waco CRACK. So it goes for East Waco and GL Wiley. The shame and failure of WISD and East Waco is in the light of day.

This isn’t the first catch phrase that Mark has coined. If you ever heard “It is what it is” then you’ve heard a Markism. And who can forget “Where’s the beef?” But my all time favorite Markism would have to be “Hey, you monkey-fluffing ape, get offa me!!! I ain’t like that!!” (He said that to me one night in a motel in Mooresville, NC after a Long John Silver’s dinner and a snowball fight.”
