JB is contagious

OK, maybe JB isn’t contagious, but the little wish lists he gets going on his blog are. A grocery store downtown would be awesome, but in the meantime, could we just get a corner store, por favor?

I can’t tell you how many times I have needed some mundane item while at work, but have gone without because there’s no little store right around here. Some of you work downtown, do you feel my pain?

I can’t be the only one who eats chunky peanut butter out of the jar with a chopstick because she always forgets to buy spoons except when she’s at work, but there’s no store around, so I’m screwed. Can I? OK, admittedly, peanut butter with a chopstick is probably a weirdness unique to me. But what about needing a pack of gum or some Tylenol? A box of Kleenex or some batteries?

When I lived in Killeen, there were NO DRUGSTORES. Yes, you heard me right. I used to visit my folks in SA and make a trip to the Walgreen’s just to linger. Drugstores are amazing places. They have everything you need and even more things you don’t.

There’s got to be an empty storefront down here just perfect for a downtown drugstore. And soon! I hope so, because I’m running out of Pei-Wei chopsticks.

Hmmmmm, you could always take a spoon from your kitchen and put it in your purse, well, that may be like droping it in a black hole, it’ll just disappear, if it didn’t, then you got a great Crunchy Peanut Butter eating tool, just remember to wash it occasional, me think a finger might be better than a Pei-Wei chop stick, ykkkkkkkkk…

There used to be a Walgreens downtown up until about 1968. It was on the first floor of the Liberty building at 6th and Austin Avenue. It was small, but had a lot of the things you would want.

BTW, if you are using wooden chopsticks to eat peanut butter, watch out for splinters. They hurt.:-)

Yes— please Walgreens or CVS read Wendy’s post! And while you’re at it, come out to China Spring too. Seriously, no pharmacies anywhere… no photo developing… no selection of toiletries to speak of… somewhere to get greeting cards!

Tbu: I don’t know your circumstances, but we moved to China Spring to get away from the crowd and knew we would be living apart from several everyday conveniences(?). Don’t worry, though, I am sure we are going to be getting most of what you have asked for sooner rather than later. <><

KDF,

True, if Waco keeps rezoning the very Northern Part of Waco, that was stolen from China Springs, there might even be a grocery store built there someday. But with wrecks becoming more dangerous and common due to the ever increasing traffic, which was forewarned to the Major and City Planners, in the area, I’m not sure it will be safe for the kids to play in the neighborhoods anymore.

However, we don’t have the drugstore or grocery yet, but the second bank is going in within 1/4 mile of each other.

Verne
