PLAYOFFS BLOG: La Vega-Brownsboro & more

4:55 PM: It’s over. La Vega wins, 42-7. The Pirates will face the winner of tonight’s game between Tyler Chapel Hill and Jasper next week.

We’ll come back tonight and post any updates we receive on Bosqueville-Granger or Chilton-Bartlett.

4:25 PM: La Vega QB Danzel Wilson threw his second TD pass of the day, this one a 13-yarder to Stefan Adams. La Vega 42, Brownsboro 7, 9:20 left in the game.

4:14 PM: La Vega running back Tevin Thompson scored on a five-yard run that capped a 96-yard scoring march. The Pirates offensive line has worn down the Bears. La Vega 35, Brownsboro 7, 11 seconds left in the third quarter.

4:02 PM: Final from Temple: Bremond defeated Dawson, 55-8. Tigers quarterback LiDarral Bailey had a huge day, rushing for more than 200 yards.

4 PM: La Vega’s Devon McGowan recovered a fumble on the kickoff after Ward’s touchdown, giving the Pirates the ball at the Brownsboro 26. Jordan Miller capped a four-play scoring drive with a two-yard touchdown run. La Vega is starting to pour it on now, leading 28-7 with 6:08 left in the third quarter.

3:55 PM: La Vega running back Chad Ward gets loose around the right end and goes the distance for a 37-yard touchdown run. La Vega 21, Brownsboro 7, 7:35 left in the third.

3:27 PM: DeSoto is crushing Temple in the fourth quarter, 40-6, according to the scoreboard of The Dallas Morning News.

3:10 PM: La Vega retakes the lead two seconds before the half. Danzel Wilson dove in from the 1 on fourth-and-goal for the touchdown and Chad Ward ran for the 2-point conversion. La Vega 14, Brownsboro 7 at the half.

2:53 PM: Bremond leads Dawson 28-0 at halftime, according to the scoreboard of the Corsicana Daily Sun

2:25 PM: Brownsboro answers with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Owens to Keith Johnson. The extra point by Ryan Smith gives the Bears a 7-6 lead with 4:22 to go in the first quarter.

2:10 PM: La Vega gets on the score board with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Danzel Wilson to Tim Garner. Kick failed. La Vega 6, Brownsboro 0. 10:00 left in first quarter.

2 PM: Chad Conine will be providing updates today from Mesquite, where La Vega meets Brownsboro in a Class 3A Division I bi-district playoff game.

We’ll also provide any updates we can find on any other local high school playoff games today.
