Jyavon King ran for 140 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown, and D.J. Betik threw for a score and ran for another to give Ennis a 22-0 halftime lead in the opening game of the Heart O’ Texas Kickoff Classic at Waco ISD Stadium.
The Lions, who churned out 306 yards of offense in the first half, opened the scoring with an efficient eight-play, 67-yard march that was capped by a six-yard run by Betik with 3:34 left in the first quarter.
After King’s touchdown run on Ennis’ next possession, the Lions struck again with 41 seconds left in the half on an 18-yard fade pass from Betik to Kyle Guinyard.
