Two-a-days should always feel this good
Standing on the sidelines at Mart’s new football stadium on Tuesday didn’t feel like attending a 1A preseason practice. It didn’t feel like it for a couple of reasons.
First, Mart’s new stadium, complete with field turf, feels like the setting at a much larger school. It’s tough to think of Mart as a 1A school for one thing. But also, at least from field level, it’s about as nice of a high school facility as I’ve been in.
Secondly, it was 70 degrees and raining. I had to go to my car for my rain jacket. Honestly, watching the Panthers practice on turf under overcast skies and wearing a jacket, well that took me back to the fall of 2006 when Mart won the 2A Division II state title though.
Don’t get me wrong though. I’m not complaining. In fact, bring on rain for the rest of the preseason.
