17-3A golfers hold their own

chinagolf.jpg

The Region III-3A golf tournament in Hunstville this week might as well have been a rerun of the District 17-3A tourney. China Spring’s girls won the regional title for the second straight year, while Robinson won the boys’ regional title and Gatesville finished second.

Pictured in the above photo are (left to right): China Spring coach Tommy Billeaud, alternate Megan Bolen, Alyssa Smith, Taylor Whitaker, Deb Dover, Kathryn “Kat” Oliver and Mari Wilson.

Oliver was the top medalist at the tourney, carding rounds of 78 and 75, while Smith was second at 75-80-160.

On the boys’ side, the Robinson Rockets shot rounds of 299 and 312 to win by six strokes over Gatesville. Pictured are (left to right): Grant Duffy, Chase Chapman, Ryan Hixson, coach Shellie Wenzel, Cody Kocian and Taylor Holleyman.

Is that crazy football Coach Mark Bell still running the school at China Spring? Several years back he got that Baseball Coach fired. I was just wondering if Coach Bell was still sitting on his Royal Throne in China Spring? The Devil ought to run for Mayor in China Spring……or is he already Mayor? That was one screaming, cussing Coach on the sidelines.
