Every event I have attended at the Hippodrome has been a horrible experience. This place should be torn down.

Yeah, you’re right, Paul. We should tear down a 95-year old historic landmark that brings Broadway shows, famous comedians, and professional music to Waco because you can’t enjoy yourself. We should tear down the only non-profit organization making sure there is free quality educational theatre available to our economically disadvantaged children. I’m sure you’re the pinnacle of good taste and know better than the tens of thousands of people who love going to the Hippodrome each year. And, geez, that lineup of cheap family films definitely demands that the place be torn down. That’s some smart thinking there.

I will say that while the Hippodrome is a nice older theater the ‘film series’ they have been doing has been sub par. Starting with the DVD player/projection equipment…movies just look really washed out and bad. Who wants to go and spend hard earned money on a subpar showing of a movie they can watch at home? I know that the showing of “To Catch a Thief” had approx 200 people there…but mark my words these series of ‘films’ will bust here in Waco if it’s not done right. If your REALLY interested in seeing a good ole movie in a grand movie house check out the Paramount in Austin. All films are shown on a huge screen with a sound system that is way more than adequate…oh, and they look great. A lot of them are shown in 70mm which outdoes any digital projector or TV available right now.

This idea can work if it’s done right. Too bad at this pace it will not.
