Stuart Chandler Dead? Say It Isn’t So!
Would someone please tell me why they killed Stuart Chandler on All My Children???
Sweet, kind, gentle, wonderful Stuart…..the antithesis to his power-hungry, manipulative, devious, identical twin Adam Chandler.
Both characters have been so adeptly played by veteran David Canary.
As such, Canary masterfully transformed himself into each character with distinct changes in wardrobe, gestures, expressions and appearance.
While playing the dual roles, Canary won the Daytime Emmy Award four times.
Stuart was such a breath of fresh air….so different than most soapy characters.
He was simple in his ways, yet so wise in his assessment of people and of situations.
All of this leaves me wondering…..
What are they thinking??

I agree. What was AMC thinking when they killed off Stewart? Normally GH ticks me off for getting rid of veterans, but this takes the cake!

Times being tough, Canary was asked to take a pay cut. He agreed but said he would no longer play a dual role.

Hi Chris, I had read speculation about that as well. But Stuart hasn’t had a great deal of airtime in the past few years that I’m not sure the extra pay would have made that big of a difference. But it could be. I just don’t know. It’s just such a shame because Stuart was such a beloved character.

I also heard about the pay cut. But you know as much as I loved Stuart, I’d rather them cut the character than for us to love David Canary completely over a money dispute.
I’m really enjoying DC’s portrayal of Adam after Stuart’s death as well. Can’t wait to find out why he’s so into Annie.
Stuart will be missed tho, big time! He may not have gotten a lotta airtime but whenever he graced the screen I was happy to see him!
