One Life To Live’s Emotional Tuesday

Wow.

I’m drained.

I feel like a wrung-out dishrag.

I say this after watching Tuesday’s One Life To Live.

There were so many emotional performances that I don’t know where to begin.

How about Kathy Brier as Marcie and Chris Stack as Michael?

To begin with, it’s only day two for Stack, stepping into the role vacated by Nathaniel Marston.

Marston, a fan favorite, was fired after his October arrest following an altercation where he allegedly assaulted three people in New York City.

So Stack steps into this high-profile, emotional storyline, which boils over with Michael begging Marcie to tell him where she is.

Marcie is on the lam from the authorities with the couple’s 1 1/2 year old adopted son, Tommy. She took off after discovering that the child was really Todd’s stolen son, unbeknownst to them at the time of the adoption. When the court awarded custody to Todd…..bye, bye Marcie with the child.

The conversation culminates with the two of them breaking down on their respective ends of the phone and Stack retreats to the bar to drown his sorrows.

It left me……drained.

For Brier, Tuesday had to be the best performance of her career in my opinion. Her sobbing and complete and utter breakdown over the phone was so real and so believable.

I was left, once again, drained.

Then there were the scenes between Michael Easton (my personal fave) as John McBain and Christina Chambers as Marty.

Well, I just love these two.

I know other fans just would not accept Chambers as Marty.

I’ve read that ad nauseum on so many message boards.

You see, old time One Lifers remember Susan Haskell in the role. And, yes, I liked Haskell, but I also think that Chambers has done a wonderful job and certainly hasn’t gotten the credit that she deserves from fans who continue to live in the past.

I was so tired of reading all of the trash about how they can’t accept Chambers as Marty, blah, blah, blah….And there were plenty that were downright mean about it. Maybe now that she’s off the show, all of the negativity about her will stop.

Of course, these are the same fans who want McBain (Easton) gone.

Over my dead body!

(Not literally)

I absolutely ADORE Michael Easton and I really love McBain. Some fans don’t like the fact that he’s broody and moody.

Whatever!

Anyway, Marty is trapped in a van that rolled down and cliff and John tries to rescue her, but she won’t have any of it until John finds her son, Cole, who was thrown from the van. She is crying and begging John to find Cole, while she is pinned under rubble in the van. She tells John that Cole is her life.

Yep. I was drained.

John spots Cole lying on a ledge and goes over to see how badly he’s hurt. Cole is bruised, battered and bleeding, but okay.

Just as John prepares to head back to get Marty….you guessed it….the van explodes into a fireball.

Brandon Buddy as Cole delivers a gutwrenching performance as he screams for his mother, while John holds him back from running to the van engulfed in flames.

Drained - again.

Talk about riding an emotional roller coaster for an hour!

I’m exhausted.

I think I need a nap.
