Clinton hits Obama on national security
5:05 p.m.: Sorry I dropped off the blog. Had some technical difficulties. But here’re some of Hillary’s choice words for Sen. Barack Obama, her rival in the fight for the Democratic nomination:
I also understand completely what it means when that phone rings at 3 a.m.
There isn’t any time to convene your advisers or do a survey about what will and what will not be popular.
You have to make a decision. And in the world that we face, with both challenges and opportunities, we need a president who picks up that phone ready to decide.
(large applause)
Sen. Obama says if we talk about national security in this campaign, we are trying to scare people. Well I don’t think people in Texas scare that easily. The American people aren’t afraid of the challenges and dangers that we face in the world. They want a president with the strength and wisdom to take those challenges and dangers head on. Now there is a big difference between giving speeches about national security and giving orders as commander in chief.
There is a big difference between delivering a speech at an anti-war rally as a state candidate and picking up that phone in the White House at 3 a.m. in the morning to deal with an international crisis.
Sen. Obama talks about these issues but when it came time to act he was missing in action. He gave a speech in 2002 against the war in Iraq and I commend him for that speech. By 2004, he was saying he wasn’t sure how he would vote because he has never had to vote. And he basically agreed that the way president Bush was conducting the war. By the time he got to the Senate, he voted exactly as I did.
It’s the difference between making a speech when you have no responsibility and having to step up and take charge.
2:37 p.m.: Gen. Wesley Clark and Hillary Clinton have taken the stage accompanied by thunderous appaulse.
2:32 p.m.: A Clinton press secretary said Hillary is in the building. We should be just a few minutes a way from go time. Fire marshal says there 1,257 people here now.
2:28 p.m.: Almost 30 minutes have passed and still no updates on when Hillary plans to take the stage. Campaign organizers are using the time to distribute information on how to caucus on Tuesday.
2:05 p.m.: No sign of Hillary yet. The crowd is starting to chant “Hillary, Hillary, Hillary. And then it stopped. The music continues on the PA. This time it’s “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
1:58 p.m.: Fire marshal says there are more than 975 people here now with a trickle of people still coming in the doors. Things are starting to fill out now, but there is still room for more.
1:55 p.m.: With about five minutes before the beginning of the rally Lenny Kravitz’s “Are you going to go my way” is playing over the PA system. Isn’t the question all of the candidates are asking?
1:30 p.m.: Minutes before the beginning of the rally about 740 people have arrived at the convention center to welcome Clinton to Waco. There’s still plenty of room on the floor for people to watch and hear Clinton deliver her speech, which is supposed to focus on veterans issues.

The most juvenile political tv commercial is running at the present time, that being Jonathan Sibley’s wife smiling and speaking his talking points. Finally, he’s asked what his points are, he then grins and says, “You allready did.” So silly sounding. Doc Anderson has served his district well, fighting against the multi,coal-fired generating plants and against the TCC rail, road and utilities proposal. Sibley is and has been a registered lobbyist; now he gets multi-thousands of dollars from his dad, former Tx state Sen. David Sibley. If David Sibley wishes to get back into politics, why doesn’t he take his funds and announce that he will run against Cong. Chet Edwards?

How can Hillary Clinton talk about national security? I wouldn’t feel safer with her in the white house . Hillary has shown me she is not a tough woman. She broke down and started crying when John Edwards and Barack Obama talked harshly to her in the south carolina debate.
And where was she when Bill Clinton was having an affair on her with Monica Lewinsky?
She didn’t exactly threaten to leave Bill for Infidelity. She stood by him and tolerated the mess he did.
Now question- is she going to do the same thing, if someone attacks the country. She just goiig to stand by and say, “let’s find a diplomatic solution to the attack”

When faced with the very serious threat of terrorism, Hillary Clinton is tough as nails. Wake up! Her home state of New York was the site of the attack on American soil on 9/11. She believes President Bush’s singular focus on Iraq has distracted him from waging the war on terror effectively and emboldened our enemies. As president, she will be tough and smart in combating terrorism.

Hillary gets our vote. She has the smarts for the job - hands down. Has she been perfect? No, but at least she is a loyal american and doesnt support farrakhan groups dating back from 1988. Do the math people.

Fear No Woman
As the beat goes on; calling for change we are reviewing history looking for women in power. Some that come to mind are Elizabeth I of England, Mary Queen of Scots, Queen Victoria, Joan of Arc, Maggie Thatcher, Golda Meir, beloved Queen Beatrice, Queen Isabella of Spain and Indria Gandhi among others. The world did not end when these women were in power. How can you call for change in America if we don’t give a gutsy woman a chance at leading our Nation.

What matters for purposes of this primary is each candidate’s prior body of work. Obama’s is unremarkable. In 2000, he lost a bid in Illinois for U.S. congressman. In 2004, he ran against the reactionary Republican Alan Keyes - who did not reside in Illinois - for his U.S. Senate position. The initial Republican nominee was caught in a scandal, thus making Obama virtually unopposed in heavily Democratic Illinois.
While many thought Obama would accomplish great things for his constituents, he used the Senate position as a power grab, and almost immediately started campaigning for President. He hasn’t put in one full term at a national political level and hasn’t shown the maturity to be President. At least a third of Illinoisans voted against him. As Obama said in Tuesday’s MSNBC debate, he’s got no time for national security subcommittee hearings even though he is the chairman of said subcommittee.
Nearly 30 general and flag officers have endorsed Hillary Clinton to be the Nation’s next President. Senator Clinton has received five endorsements in recent days, including those of General Henry Hugh Shelton, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral William Owens, the former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Army Major General Antonio M. Taguba. Overall she has the endorsement of two former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, five admirals and generals at the four-star rank. They are in addition to over 2,000 veterans and military retirees who are members of Senator Clinton’s national and state veterans’ steering committees.
