David and Goliath
TRIB BALLOT
Like Simon said, “It’s going to be a humdinger” of a finale. I’m amazed no one on stage understood what he meant.
As we’ve suspected all along, the finale will be a battle of the Davids. I’m calling it “David and Goliath: A showdown of truly biblical proportions.” And I haven’t got a clue which one is David and which is Goliath.
But remember, the little guy won in the real story, so don’t count out “the underdog,” whichever one that is.
I’ve had conversations with people around the Trib office who think that Cook is the only one whose music is marketable. That’s like saying because there’s Bon Jovi, there’s no room in the marketplace for Josh Grobin.
Hogwash. Both Davids are going to sell music. They’ll just be featured on different radio stations: Archuleta on adult contemporary and Cook on rock.
I’ve also been told that Cook should win because we’ve already had an Archuleta type in Clay Aiken. “It’s already been done,” I was told.
My response to that is we’ve also had Chris Daughtry. And Clay Aiken supporters buy music from people other than Clay too.
My point is both are marketable and both are undeniably talented. Both also seem to make girls swoon (although the age groups might vary). As opposed to previous seasons, I think it’s impossible at this juncture to pick the winner. Both have won weekly voting tallies over the span of the season.
Isn’t this fun? Knock ‘em dead, David!

I am totally rooting for “Little” David as we refer to him in our house hold! Don’t get me wrong… Cook is really good but he just seems a little too cocky for my taste.
