More on song choice
TRIB BALLOT
Song choice keeps rearing its head in the wake of Michael’s dismissal on Thursday night.
First, here is an excerpt from an interview with Michael on his dismissal. He claims he was shocked because he hadn’t been in the bottom three previously and had had some of his strongest efforts in recent weeks. He also has no regrets for singing “Dream On” and refused to pan to the judge’s opinion that he should stick with soul songs.
And second, here is a report out of Ireland on the comments from the original producer to Carly’s now famous 378-copy-selling first album flop. Steve Dorff claims Carly had an amazing voice as a 15-year-old kid, but was adamant about singing rock songs and refused his advice to stick with a pop sound. He eventually had to quit working on the project due to creative differences, and the result was her own creative direction in the rock album that no one bought, despite a multi-million dollar PR attempt. Does this sound familiar? Seems her song choice is following this same path toward her demise.
We’ll see what she chooses tomorrow.
