Idol news roundup
According to MTV.com: Amy Davis, whom America dismissed Thursday night, was named a “Today’s Girl” by Maxim.com for “all her hard work and ‘American Idol’ hotness.” Davis competed in the 2007 Maxim Hometown Hotties competition.
From Broadcasting and Cable: FOX execs are looking at revamping the audition episodes for next season. This is due to “audience erosion” during the opening weeks of this season. They have no specific plans yet and promise that the changes won’t be radical. The full text of the article can be viewed here. Perhaps they should know that 57% of you said in our poll last week that they’d like to see less audition episodes. No one wanted more.
From Tampa Bay Online: Paula Abdul not only sang “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” for Randy Jackson’s new album, but is in the preliminary stages of releasing her own new album and launching a world tour. She hopes to have a new single out by June. You can read the full text of the article here.
I didn’t comment on the video Friday, but now that there a promise of more, I must say this: Dead careers really should stay in the vault. For people who are always talking about relevance on today’s charts, I can’t believe the judges actually are touting this as Paula’s return. That song sounded exactly like her stuff in the 80s, and the video showed only short bursts of her dancing, as if she might get winded to do the whole song. I’m sorry but I’m not a fan.
Then again, it only took 15 fans to make that video.
