Miami brings out the talent
I was impressed with the talent displayed last night. Several, several good voices with nice stage presence.
I most enjoyed the best friends, Brittany and Corliss who sang in throwback jazz style to Randy and Simon. Brittany’s slowed-down “My Guy” was the best performance of the episode in my mind. I worry that they will get cut not because of their voices, but because of their weight. As we all know, Simon has told contestants to lose weight in the past.
Suzanne, the single mom who sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me”, was also quite enjoyable. I agree with Randy that she could be very special if she puts it all together.
The one that I was surprised they sent through was Ghaleb, the Venezuelan. I could understand him speaking, but not a word of his singing. If he works on limiting his accent, he does have a nice voice, but how much can you really do in a matter of a few months?
In my worst of the night pile are two. Richard, who sang the Rascal Flatts song in a very nasal style, sounded to me like a Muppet. I watched a video of Fraggle Rock with my son the other day, and really, Richard sounded much like the Fraggles.
The other, obviously, was Brandon, who acted like he had schizophrenia, did hat tricks, gyrated inappropriately and sang gosh-awful. That boy was almost frightening.
Hopefully we’ll get to start voting soon. I’ve seen a few I want to cheer on, but I’m ready to get started.
