Dallas fails to impress

Who is your favorite past Idol runner-up?

I don’t know about you, but I was disappointed with the talent brought forward by our state last night.

The show started well enough with the mother who overcame her meth addiction, Jessica Brown. I think we’ll see more of her.

And I have to give a shout out to my hometown girl, Alana Whitaker of Tulsa, Okla., who compared herself to Carrie Underwood and then nailed a Faith Hill song.

But what I saw most of was the personable, interesting contestants who just couldn’t sing. Like park attendant Paul that Simon even said was a nice kid. Or the boy who has never kissed a girl, but whose father is holding his heart for him until he meets the right one.

And what was with Douglas and his incessant warming up? They let that go on way too long. Three notes into his attempt at “Living on a Prayer” and anyone not tone deaf could tell it wasn’t in the cards.

My vote for creepiest: “Fingernail boy,” Brandon. Why on earth would anyone keep old fingernail clippings in a ziploc bag and then show it to people? I understand he might be obsessive compulsive and be compelled to keep them, but to SHOW them on national television? GROSSS!

What struck you, good or bad? Did you see the next Idol winner in the mix?
