Waco Today: High School Spirit

I loved that you included a section on “The Fans.” This group of parents is possiblY the most underrecognized and yet crucial part of each school’s sucess in the areas of academics, athletics, and the arts. It was wonderful to see the parents from area schools who work full time, sometimes at the schools they support, and still make the time to be involved in their childrens’ activities and to support various programs at their schools. Hats off to volunteer parents!

What about West and Connally? They usually get left out. I never saw the Connally Cheerleaders last year when you featured all the other ones.

WacoTrib.com: We’re sorry to have missed them. We’re eager to have all area schools participate, but we can only take photos of the one who call us back. We’re aiming for a “cheerleader photo day” here at the Trib in mid-August, so make sure you call your school’s sponsor or administrator and encourage them to participate.

I didn’t identify with the “Bandies” title. If I’m not mistaken, we were called “Band Geeks”. I know you were just trying not to offend anyone, but that’s what we are called. Sorry

Yeah, I noticed that Robinson, Midway and China Spring got in this spotlight, but no Connally or LaVega or Bosqueville…what exactly are the boundaries? I can see West, Lorena and Crawford being a little farther removed from Waco proper, but these other three are populated by citizens of WACO!

Or what about McGregor?? Remember…they are ranked this year! 1st in district I’ve been told and 15th in state.

Great article. I enjoyed reading and loved the photos. There is one correction. The names of Cindy Davis and Danette McIntyre were mixed up. I’m sure Ms. McIntyre is a lovely lady but the last time I checked, she is certainly not the lady I have been privileged to be married to for the past 29 years. Thanks for what you do for the community.
