Griffin has Northwestern State family ties
By John Werner
| Tuesday, September 2, 2008, 05:43 PM
Baylor freshman quarterback Robert Griffin will get his first college start Saturday against Northwestern State: It’s a school he’s quite familiar with.
His older sister, DeJon Griffin, throws the discus, shot put and hammer for the Northwestern State track team. Northwestern State even recruited Robert out of Copperas Cove High School.
Robert said there will be some good-natured pregame banter with his sister, a junior at Northwestern State.
“I’m sure I’m going to hear from her, but I’ll be ready for it,” Robert said. “We’ll see what the scoreboard says after the game.”

Where’s Emily Ingram? I miss the interviews she does “In The Emzone”. I re-watched several of her videos recently from 2007 and thought she did an excellent job - has a great style in her interviews.
She covers Baylor Athletics with professionalism and a touch of femininity and class that really appeals. Her personality comes off as genuine and pleasant. Need I go on?
Where has Emily gone? She is a great asset for The Waco Tribune Herald.
WacoTrib.com staff: George, Emily left us about a month ago after her nuptials. She is, of course, greatly missed ‘round these parts.
As for football, WacoTrib.com’s Erin Quinn was at the Wake Forest game and she’ll be heading out to Floyd Casey a few times this year. You can find the Wake video and all her latest features at wacotrib.com/quinn or anywhere on our Baylor sports pages.

Northwestern State played Ole Miss within a touchdown in Oxford last year. Baylor better not be thinking cup-cake.
