Officials: Cause of McLennan County Jail inmate’s death could take a while
The cause of a 23-year-old McLennan County Jail inmate’s death remains unknown as officials say they must wait for toxicology results, which could be up to three months.
Sheriff’s officials say Robert Gray, of Axtell, was arrested by Texas State Technical College police early Saturday morning on a drugs charge.
Gray reportedly called his family to bail him out. When they arrived, they were told that Gray had been taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he died.

It is a little sad that the people at McLennan County Jail could not of called his family to let them know that he was being taking to the hospital after he was booked in jail. It may not of been serious at the time, but it seems like it would of been a responsible thing that should of been done. I can not believe how careless out police force has gotten! You know that if it was an immediate family member of someone that worked at the County Jail there would of been a phone call made instead of letting their family members show up to bail them out and find out that their son was dead.

Mel, SO is supposed to call family members everytime that someone in jail has to go to the ER. If it were me I would let these POS’s rot in a cell. I would not waste taxpayers money on an ER visit. I am glad he is dead. One less worthless person that society has to pay to take care of.

ABC123, you are describing yourself you useless piece of inhuman cr_p! I won’t lower myself to your level by wishing you would find one of your children in a similar situation. You are the ignorant scum that needs to be removed from the earth’s population. It’s ignorance like yours that has the world in the shape it is in now. I wonder what you are guilty of. We all know it’s something and probably a lot worse than anything this fine young man could have ever done. Unlike your worthless self, he had a heart and a big one. I am proud to have known him and desperately sorry to see his short life end due to McLennan county jailers acting like they always do. They treat everyone like shi/. You act just like them ABC123. You probably are one of them. That type of attitude is exactly what caused this needless death of a young man that had more class in his eyebrow than you and all of the jailers at the McLennan county jail will ever have between you.

Hey Truth, why don’t you speak some? They never do all they can do at the jail! Anyone that has ever been in jail or known someone that has been in jail knows that. Where did you get your information? Sounds like you were right there on the scene. Feeling a little guilty are you? You should feel guilty if you were there and did not help this boy. Obviously if you were there, you didn’t help him because no one helped him till it was too late.
