The office of Gov. Rick Perry just e-mailed a press release about six appointments to the Texas Fire Protection Commission. Among those appointed is Steven C. Tull, a lieutenant firefighter in the city of Waco fire department.

The Valley Mills resident also is president of the Waco Professional Firefighters Association. Tull replaces Kent Worley of Fort Worth for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015.

The release says that the commission enforces statewide fire service standards and provides education and assistance to fire service personnel.

Joining Tull are:

*Yusuf E. Farran of El Paso, executive director of the Canutillo Independent School District.

*Carl “Gene” Giles of Carthage, senior vice president and director of the First State Bank and Trust Company of Carthage.

*John W. Green of San Leon, a professional firefighter, driver and operator with the Village Fire Department

*Kimberley Shambley of Dallas, senior vice president and assistant general counsel for Countrywide Home Loans/Bank of America.

Before you comment, please take a few moments to make sure that what you're saying is civil and respectful.
