Swine flu reported in some Central Texas counties
Swine flu has made its way to Central Texas, but there are still no confirmed cases in McLennan County.
People in three nearby counties have been diagnosed with the illness, which is caused by the H1N1 flu strain, according to information on the Texas Department of Health Services Web site.
Coryell County, where Gatesville is located, has one confirmed case.
Hamilton County, home to the town of Hamilton, has two confirmed cases.
Brazos County, where Bryan and College Station are, has four confirmed and one probable case, the state Web site says.
McLennan County does not have any confirmed swine flu cases. The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District has sent at at least 60 specimens from local residents suspected of having the illness to a state lab for testing. Results for at least 21 of those samples have come back, and all have been negative, officials have said.
