Dog’s barks alert Robinson residents of house fire

A dog potentially saved his owners from harm when it alarmed them of an early-morning fire at their home in Robinson Tuesday.

The fire, at 3966 S. Robinson Drive was reported at 7:40 a.m., said Robinson Fire Chief Gerald Groppe.

Groppe said the dog’s barking woke it’s owners, and they got the dog and left the house without being harmed. Groppe didn’t know the dog’s name.

Firefighters from Robinson, Lorena and Golinda came to the scene.

Fire damage was limited to the garage and attic, but other parts of the home were damaged by smoke, Groppe said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

Groppe said he didn’t know where the two people displaced by the fire will stay until the home is repaired.

This story will not be complete until we find out what the dog’s name is.

You never know what your pet may do in this kind of situation. Mudd is a good dog! :) Thanks to the neighbors who have gathered and helped my Mom and niece yesterday. They were there to help immediately!
