Marlin sees opening of Coach Carter Impact Academy
Surely, you’ve heard about coach Ken Carter, or perhaps the inspirational movie “Coach Carter” based on his life and bold action to put academics ahead of athletics. Today in Marlin, where Carter bought a home last year, is the announcement of the grand opening of the Coach Carter Impact Academy, a new school geared to helping boys from junior high-age to high school, with accomodation for on-campus housing.
A news conference was held at 11 a.m. at the facility, 317 Kendrick St., in Marlin. Carter was scheduled to host a host of the renovated building that used to house the Booker T. Washington High School.
Lunch courtesy of the Coach Carter Foundation will follow the tour.
