Lake Aquilla drought watch lifted
The Brazos River Authority has sent out a news release that because of recent rainfall in the Lake Aquilla watershed, the BRA terminated the lake’s Stage 1 drought watch.
The release says:
March’s rainfall raised Lake Aquilla’s elevation from 532.9 feet to 536.7 feet, which is more than 3 feet higher than the Stage 1 trigger level of 533.6 feet. Raising customer and public awareness of potential drought problems is the main goal of the Stage 1 Drought Watch, found in the BRA’s Drought Contingency Plan. The plan includes three stages - Stage 1 - Drought Watch, Stage 2 - Drought Warning and Stage 3 - Drought Emergency.
Although the Stage 1 Watch has been lifted, the BRA will continue to monitor lake and water supply conditions and will initiate any watches or warnings as appropriate.
