Man’s body found alongside road in McGregor
McGregor Police are investigating a questionable death after the body of an 87-year-old man was found along Johnson Drive near U.S. Highway 84.
The victim had a single gunshot wound to the head, said McGregor Police Lt. M.R. Colyer. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
The name of the victim has been not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The body was lying on a grassy area on the side of the street, across from an apartment complex, Colyer said. A passerby reported spotting the body at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, he said.
A weapon was recovered at the scene. Police are unable to determine whether the death is a homicide, Colyer said.
“We will know more about it once the autopsy comes back, and we will move forward from there,” he said.
