Third man arrested in connection with Waco aggravated kidnapping of woman, child

Waco police have arrested a third man in connection with last month’s kidnapping of a 24-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter.

Christopher Edward Brooks, 19, of Waco was charged today with two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Clifton Dobbins, 20, and a 15-year-old Waco boy have already been arrested and charged with the crime. Police are still looking for a fourth suspect.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the woman and her child had pulled her 2006 blue Dodge Charger into a parking lot near the Kate Ross apartment complex in the 1100 block of South 11th Street at 11:15 p.m. Dec. 28.

She told police that she stayed in her vehicle because she saw a man “lurking” around the area. As she was sitting there, a man startled her when he came up to her drivers’ side window and pointed a handgun at her.

The man and three others forced the woman and toddler into the back seat of the Charger and drove around for an hour and a half before releasing the two, the affidavit states. During the kidnapping, the men also forced the woman to take money from her bank and give them all of the contents in her purse.

While the 15-year-old was appearing in front of a judge today at the Bill Logue Juvenile Detention Center, Dobbins and Brooks are being held in the McLennan County Jail. Bond for Dobbins is set at $10,000 on each count of aggravated kidnapping. Brooks, who is in jail on an evading arrest charge, has not yet been arraigned in connection with the kidnapping.

Aggravated kidnapping with a handgun… I heard of a guy with some bootleg CDs that also had a $10,000 bond… What doesn’t seem right here?
