Wilson scores 26 as Lady Bears dominate Texas State, 95-55

Behind a career-high 26 points from junior post Danielle Wilson, No. 7 Baylor raced past Texas State, 95-55, in the team’s final nonconference game tonight at the Ferrell Center.

Baylor (12-1) displayed an up-tempo pace from the outset, darting out in the open floor and getting a bevy of transition layups. Baylor shot 60 percent in the first half.

Wilson, who has been on an offensive tear, certainly helped BU’s shooting percentage, hitting 11 of 14 shots, most from point-blank range. She also added seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

Morghan Medlock, playing in her first home game since the murder of her mother Dec. 19, knocked down 6 of 7 attempts for 15 points off the bench, and Jhasmin Player and Lindsay Palmer each added 10 points.

Player turned in a terrific all-around game, adding eight rebounds, six assists and six steals.

Rachel Allison didn’t reach double figures, but she drew the biggest cheers of the night when she became the 26th member of BU’s 1,000-point club with a short jumper five minutes into the second half.

Ashley Cole topped Texas State (6-6) with 14 points.

Chrysler gets first Treasury payment: $4 billion

Now that Chrysler has gotten its first payment from the Treasury Department, should we all go out and buy the new 2009 Chrysler 300?

Chrysler has long been quite an innovator, as its museum attests to. Concepts like the Newport and Atlantic are gorgeous triumphs of art and engineering.

Over the years, competitions among auto makers has been stiff, to say the least. Government money to the rescue! Maybe instead of buying a new dead-dinosaur-burning feat of engineering, we should just buy bicycles (they make them in sports models, too).

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting take on the drama: Treasury to Ford: Drop Dead

Commentary from CommodityOnline in India offers an interesting history-laden perspective.
