Chrysler gets first Treasury payment: $4 billion

Now that Chrysler has gotten its first payment from the Treasury Department, should we all go out and buy the new 2009 Chrysler 300?

Chrysler has long been quite an innovator, as its museum attests to. Concepts like the Newport and Atlantic are gorgeous triumphs of art and engineering.

Over the years, competitions among auto makers has been stiff, to say the least. Government money to the rescue! Maybe instead of buying a new dead-dinosaur-burning feat of engineering, we should just buy bicycles (they make them in sports models, too).

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting take on the drama: Treasury to Ford: Drop Dead

Commentary from CommodityOnline in India offers an interesting history-laden perspective.
