Ex-major leaguer Sid Hudson of Waco dies

Former major league pitcher Sid Hudson died this morning. He was 93.
Hudson lived in Waco since 1955 after pitching his final season with the Boston Red Sox in 1954. Hudson compiled a career record of 104-152 in 12 major league seasons, including a 17-16 record as a rookie with the Washington Senators in 1940. He pitched in major league All-Star games in 1941-42 before enlisting in the military during World War II.
Hudson went on to coach and scout with the Senators and Texas Rangers before starting a seven-year stint as Baylor’s pitching coach in 1987.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Sid Hudson was a great contributor to the game of baseball in our state. I will never forget the wisdom, philosophies, and priceless baseball memories he shared with me while I was serving as a graduate assistant at Baylor. Rest assured, Sid’s guidance will show again this coming season at Stony Point High School in Round Rock and will follow me as long as I remain active in this profession. Sid’s gentle demeanor with strong convictions came from an era our country and our sport should never forget. Sid will be dearly missed, but definitely not forgotten!

Please extend our condolences to the family of Sid Hudson on the loss of their Father and Grandfather of the Carolyn Fisher and Nancy Fields families.
Sid was a friend of the Camacho family of Fairhaven, Massachusetts. My Dad, Joe Camacho, was on the coaching staff in Washington and Texas with Sid. His late wife Marilyn was a dear friend of my Mother, sadly they are all gone now.
With Heartfelt Sympathies,
Joe Camacho Jim Camacho
