Edwards, in Waco, mum on VP chances

chetedwards.jpg

U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards remained mum on his chances as Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s choice for vice president today in the hours leading up to the campaign’s announcement.

“I intend to actively support him in his election whether I am on the ticket, not on the ticket or running for re-election in Congress, it doesn’t matter,” he said.

Edwards’ name first circulated publicly as a possible VP selection in June after an endorsement from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He would not say today how often he had been in contact with the Obama campaign, only acknowledging that he had been in the vetting process.

Obama will make his first official campaign appearance with his chosen running mate Saturday at an event in Springfield, Ill., where he first announced his candidacy. Edwards would not confirm whether he made travel plans to be in Illinois this weekend.

“I’ll be spending some quality time with my family tonight,” he said, playfully rough-housing with his son Garrison, who stood beside him.

He said he and his family were both honored that he was being considered for the VP. “I was really happy,” Garrison said. “I think my dad would make a good vice president.”

Kudoes for Chet…I suppose. I for one would hate to lose him as one of our area representatives. He has been pretty much the only elected official in my district who has ever personally responded to an inquiry or concern with anything more than a canned template letter.

GO CHET!!!!!! TEXAS IS BEHIND CHET EDWARDS!!!!! OBAMA EDWARDS 08

If this is what it takes to get rid of Chet “The Gary Condit Clone” Edwards, so be it. In fact, I’ll even vote for The Messiah, The Chosen One, Lord Hussein Nobama if Gary, uh, Chet is on his team.

Look at his hair and teeth; how will Central Texas and the Waco VA ever survive if we lose those two personal attributes of Chet? Oh, yeah, we’ll still have Rick “The Slick” Perry as the Governator, that is until the barren Ma Hutchinson makes her run.

We are truly in “The End Times”.

In considering potential VP candidates with names like “Clinton” & “Edwards”, The Messiah Nobama had better have done “in depth” (pun intended) background investigations into the marital fidelity & sexual preferences of ALL of his potential running mates.

And if The Chosen One Hussein the II Nobama snatches Gary Edwards away from the undersized bosom of Central Texas, why not take a couple of more of our beloved local yokels with him?

Since the Trib is on the choping block, uh, “for sale” (ha), Lord Nobama could appoint John “Comrade” Young as his Minister of Propaganda, uh, MisInformation & make Carlos “La Raza” Sanchez head of Immigration & Amnesty Control.

What perfect additions those two would make to The Most Holy One’s team.

why does this site let racist liars like “NOtWhole” litter this site with racist garbage like calling Obama “Lord Hussein Nobama” ?

this is embarrassing to this site, your newspaper, and to all Real Texans, who are disgusted by this type of crap.

Not Whole is not a Texan, and does not have a whole brain or heart.

Chuck:

Please explain to the assembled masses how anything that I’ve posted above can be considered “racist”.

That shopworn phrase is typical of the liberal claptrap retort that you government school educated wingnuts verbally vomit when you don’t have an adequate reply and/or can’t successfully put together more than one word (“racist”) into a coherant sentence because of your abysmal public education.

So don’t dodge my original question Chuckster, HOW AM I A RACIST?

Da-yam, it appears that the Trib is really going through its files to find just the right pix of the Jr. Messiah, Gary Edwards.

I think that the above photo is the 3rd different pix in as many hours that the trib has used of Price Edwards.

There are two things that all of the photos do have in common though; look at those good teeth & that great hair, the best that the poor taxpayer’s misspent dollars can buy.

We are SO fortunate to have such a good looking Rep, whether there’s any deep intellectual substance there below the expensive cosmetics or not.

Wow I didnt realize Chet supported fascism. I always thought he was more moderate with a bit of common sense. If someone like that rotten Pelosi is endorsing him, then the sooner he’s gone the better.

Chet Edwards rocks.

Any of you adoring, weak-kneed fans of Gary Edwards, the Jr. Messiah, who wish to touch his robe, had better hurry.

Rumor has it that the Secret Service will soon be providing Prince Edwards with around-the- clock security to protect him from the lowly masses.

It’s also reported that the SS is trying to make a final decision on a code name for Jr. They’re down to either BLOWDRY or CHOMPERS as their choice. Any suggestions out there from his loyal fans?

WHY DO WE STILL HAVE TO COME BACK AND BRING UP A PERSON’S SEX LIFE? AREN’T THERE MORE PRESSING ISSUES TO THE NATION. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE WE ARE AT A CHILD’S MENTALITY WHEN WE DWELL OR DROOL OVER A PERSON’S SEXUAL ACTIVITLY. NOW RAPE OR CHILD SEX….THAT IS DIFFERENT. I JUST THINK THAT IS SILLY.

Not Whole - I am wondering why you are not hating on what a mess King George and no-bid Cheney have made on the U.S. Get a new play book and stop spinning and creating stupid comments like you Republicans did in the last election. See what happened? you got us a president who has the I-Q of a lemon. At least Chet is real and has a real interest in what happens in our community. Don’t be hating him because he is good looking - Obama/Edwards - two people I am proud to be Americans with and i would be honored to be governed by these two honorable men.

Bh-nothing new. There is a section on CNN.com talking about campaigns in the early 1800’s where they would call each others mothers prostitites, say they were of mixed blood (big deal back then-not now OK?) and their wives were sluts.

Chet Who? What does it say about Obama’s judgement to choose another unknown as his running mate? At this point, his pal Tony Rezko has more reputation, as dubious as most Obama’s associates appear to be, than this guy… Just goes to show Obama’s appalling arrogance, self-serving agenda and an utter disregard for public interest.

Choosing a total unknown to potentially run this country? That’s right, Nobama, you are showing your true face: who cares for the country as long as you can feel superior to someone lesser than you… you have finally found your guy.

Hey, the GOP candidate has a track record of adultery, having several affairs while married to his first wife, including one with Cindy. Of course, she bought herself a trophy husband with her fortune and now their upteen homes. He is a rich one and makes Clinton (he) look like a sexual saint by comparison.

Meet Vice President Edwards. If you loved him as a representative watch your wallet if he moves to higher office. The man who never met a tax he didn’t like and never had a side of his mouth he couldn’t talk out of.

Make it 3 in a row of the Democrats’ native sons losing their home states per their national ticket!!

In 2000, Vice-President Albert Gore, Jr. lost in his home state Tennesee in his bid for President. In ‘04, Senator John Edwards lost in his home state North Carolina in his bid for Vice-President. Thus, in ‘08 Congressman Chet Edwards (if selected by Senator Obama), would lose in his native Texas.

Sure a lot of ugly comments about Chet, a representative who has done nothing but work damn hard for the benefit of our troops, our vets, and our district, who has never been involved in a moral or legal scandal, who has been a fighter fro the First Amendment, and who has been cited many times for his integrity and ethics. I guess this district deserves a slime-master because that’s what many in it like to peddle.

Perhaps some would like to tear Chet down because he withstood the Republican redistricting led by Tom DeLay and still stands as President Bush’s Congressman, which is a source of embarrassment to the far-right.

I’ve spoken with Mr. Edwards on a few occasions about some serious issues, and I know his spouse and children. They are all good, upstanding, humble, and honest people. Chet Edwards is a good and honorable man, a skillful politician in the best sense of the word, and he would make a fine VP.

Shame on those putting out the hateful, ugly trash talk that I’ve read here. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

You have to remember JPF, that billionaire republicans get their votes from trailer trash guys like NotWhole and Bullchet to get elected, then promptly fire them from their jobs at Mickey D’s after the election. It is a classic case of bait and dump. The republican motto. They never learn from their mistakes because they are brainless drones.
