No heat record, and say hi to Edouard

UPDATE: It got up to 105 in Waco today, the hottest in the year so far. DFW Airport saw a record 107.

ORIGINAL TEXT: It got hot today in Waco — at least 103 — but the record 107 doesn’t seem to have been threatened as expected. It’s still forecast to get down only to 77 overnight, then up to 106 tomorrow (which would tie the Aug. 4 record). The heat advisory continues to be in effect.

There’s a slim chance of rain tonight, but the bigger news is the rain we might be getting Tuesday or Wednesday courtesy of Tropical Storm Edouard, which has just formed in the northern Gulf of Mexico and is headed toward Texas. It likely won’t have time to strengthen into a hurricane before it hits.
