Militants target American teacher in Indonesia

Ten militants arrested this month when they tried to bomb the Indonesian Supreme Court in Jakarta also planned to assassinate an American teacher living in the country.

The militants were trying to avenge the scheduled executions of Bali nightclub bombers arrested in 2002.

Authorities seized bombs holding live bullets before the group could detonate the bomb in the Supreme Court parking lot.

The group also took credit for killing an Indonesian Christian teacher in front of his 9-year-old son last year and planned to kill an American teacher, identified only as Samuel for his protection, this year.
