Waco ISD offers 3 options for G.L. Wiley: Two involve closure

Two of the options the Waco Independent School District administration is offering for G. L. Wiley Middle School include closure of the school this year.

The district released three options this afternoon for the future of the chronically low-performing school. Those options include Wiley remaining open with extra resources provided to help students raise their test scores, plus two options for closure which differ based on the schools that Wiley students would attend instead of their home campus.

These options can be found at http://www.wacoisd.org/story.php?id=620&year=2008.

The school board will discuss these options and take comments from the community at a school board meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Waco ISD Conference Center.

Okay, now I see; this is a money issue. Save almost a million dollars to send students to a school that already has discipline issues. Just like merging J.H. Hines and Doris Miller is the best solution. There are going to be serious issues because of kids coming in from other neighborhoods. Can you spell “tention”!

Okay, since you guys basically have your minds made up, (probably had it made up at the beginging of the summer) if you’re going to close the school at least do it next year. You’re making a decision to do this close to the begining of the school year.

The faculty and staff at G.L. Wiley should be ticked off by this. They busted their behinds this past year, along with the students, and this is the thanks they get. Like I said before, I know the employees at Wiley don’t want to lose their jobs for speaking out, BUT YOU HAVE TOO!

Wilson B., did you go to Wiley? Your spelling is atrocious. You asked if the readers can spell “tention.” You can’t. The word you wanted is spelled tension.

Here is a better option!

Close WILEY and send the Children to a Charter School Such a Rapaport, or Harmony, etc. Where the Children have a chance at SUCCESS!

THE WISD CONTINUES TO FAIL US!!

The teachers would be better off to work for a School district that would treat them as professionals.

While were are cleaning house, how about an effective SUPT., and get rid of the do nothing Jobs at the ADMIN. BUILDING. WE ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

The WACO ISD exemplifies what is wrong with public education. There is entirely to much money paid to the top people who do not add value to our lives, while the Teachers get nothing.

I am curious how many people in EAST WACO would have voted for the Bond issue and tax increase if you know your Schools would be closed? One again the MAN go you!

“Tension” was misspelled on purpose, people! It was a joke towards Mr. Rob. You have to find some humor in all this!

And I didn’t mean to post it more than once, sorry!

Keep going Mr. Ward. You and the kids can do it.

So, Wilson, you spelled “tension” incorrectly on purpose? I suppose you also used the wrong form of “to” on purpose as well? You must either be a GL Wiley teacher or alumni since you seem to have the skill set that is indicative of that campus.

I realize I’ve used some big words here, Wilson, but feel free to use www.dictionary.com to look some of them up. Also, a good grammar handbook may help you as well.

Meanwhile, thinking individuals realize it’s not about race or just money, it’s about inept individuals trying to educate students. Now the ineptness might be overcome with the right leadership and in a different setting, so let it happen. Let’s weed out the people like Wilson who don’t have a clue and maybe children will be better educated and there will be hope for this world we live in.

Everyone needs to look deeper into this issue. These kids actually have a faculty that care about them now and you want to take that from them. I believe this school should be given another chance under the direction of Mr. Ward. Mr. Ward has made a huge difference at this school since he has been there along with all the other teachers and staff. The kids just need some encouragement that they can do it no matter what other people say! These kids hear it every day “they are never going to make it” “you won’t amount to nothing” etc..Etc…Etc… If this were happening in Midway or another high paid district school, I guarantee you this would not be the same scenario. Just because this is a poor neighborhood and the majority of the children are African American nobody seems to really care and that is a total shame. God bless the faculty and staff at G.L. Wiley for all you have done and God Bless the students as well!

Mr. WARD has the good sense to Send his CHILD TO MIDWAY!

IF WILEY IS/WAS SUCH A GREAT SCHOOL, WHY DOES THE PRINCIPAL SEND HIS CHILD TO MIDWAY?

I will await MR.WARD’S Silence?

The answer is Mr. Ward wants the best for his child and he knows it is NOT in the WISD!

I am tired of wasting tax dollars, all in the name of affirmative action.
