Waco ISD looks further into start times
From Trib staffer Wendy Gragg:
Waco ISD administrators met earlier today as they continued looking into adopting standard school start times for its campuses. Administration officials tweaked its proposed times some since the issue first was discussed.
A new proposal being considered has the school day for elementary school students from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For middle and high school students, the day would be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30. The original proposal had high schools starting at 9 a.m.
District officials said the standardizing of times will help with fuel efficiency and the shortage of bus drivers.

They ought to start at 7am until 7pm maybe they would learn something and stay off the streets. With the disipline of WISD kids who would want to be a bus driver? maybe 7-7 would cut down on the “BeBeDaddys and BeBeMammas” also.

No one they should start high school and middle school times that late. It should be around 8 or 8:15… as a parent I don’t want my daughter walking or riding the bus to school and most people actually have an 8-5 job.
Oh well, she is going to be in first grade next year, unless some major changes occur in the WISD my daughter will never set foot in a Middle or High School in the WISD area.

If you read the current research (novel idea for some who like to spout off), it shows that teenagers perform better with later start times.
