State track: 5 gold medals so far for Central Texas

Tribune-Herald youth sports editor Brice Cherry reports:

Central Texas is off to a strong start at the state track meet with five gold medals and two silvers on the first day of competition.

Evant’s Andrew Gordon (Class 1A boys’ 3,200 meters), Hamilton’s Amber Weems (2A girls’ 3,200), Fairfield’s Gavan Bass (3A boys’ long jump), Whitney’s Wren Bonner (3A girls’ pole vault) and West’s Blaine Bassler (3A boys’ pole vault) all prevailed in their events.

Chilton’s Montraze Landrum was second in the 1A boys’ long jump, and Evant’s Sarah Vann was second in the 1A girls’ pole vault.
