Has Satan assigned specific demons special responsibility, authority and power over specific geographical areas?
Ephesians 6:11-12 (Amplified Bible) “Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere”
Forbes Magazine recently figured out a way to rank America’s most sinful cities using the traditional seven deadly sins. They found that Denver ranked first as “most lustful” and used sales figures for contraceptives and sex items. Crime rate for personal property was used to rank Memphis as the “most jealous”. The city of Detroit won the “the most murderous” using crime statistics which were so clear. Wait; don’t tell me- has Forbes finally found a way for science and the bible to co-exist? Could it be that the scripture above also confirms the same thing the Forbes study attempts to do? Are there spirits assigned to geographical areas or cities?
By now, you’re probably waiting to see what I believe huh? Well, I could never rehearse the totality of biblical teaching on evil spirits and spiritual warfare in this small blog entry. It suffices to say that the warfare depicted in Eph 6:10-20 and the book of Revelation is real and crucial as any aspect of Christian discipleship. Biblical instruction concerning the spirit world needs to be an integral part of our thinking and praying. I am convinced that when homicides went up in our city in the past, it was not only good police work that brought the rate down; it was also praying people coming against the strongman assigned over our city.
So, want to take a jab at what type of spirit hovers over our county? Or is this just another one of my most useless blog entries that need to be taken off the paper’s web site? Let me know folks!!

Consider this……God created the Devil (Satan); thus, God created Evil. All things in Heaven and Earth are from God.

Hello pastor, I have yet to see a useless blog from you. I feel we are seeing the end coming. Some churches are preaching there is a great revival coming for Christ’s church, when the Word teaches us there will a great falling away. Through this, a spirit of deception is grasping even believers. Unfortunately way to many of us take the spirit world for granted, either not believing it exist, or wrongfully calling to it. I have been in services where Holy Spirit was present and in some where it very much was an unholy spirit, ushered in by trying to “force” His presence. Spirits exist, and not understanding what or how we call on them is so very dangerous. Even for believers. Or pastors. And especially for our country.

Nelson: Every generation since the dawn of Christianity (some 2000 years ago) has believed that “the end was coming soon” and that “God’s judgement is soon upon us”. The early Christians themselves believed that the Kingdom of God was just around the corner. Not so. God has His own time-table. Every minute of every day is a gift from God. Enjoy the life that God has given you. Take time to stop and smell the roses.

I know that the devil exists. I believe that he attacks the individual with just enough aggravation to make a weak soul doubt the goodness of God. The devil needs to separate you from your spiritual support. If he can make you doubt yourself and doubt the Promise that God is with you even unto death he has served his purpose.
The devil cannot outdo God but the presence of evil in your world can make you question God. I have had moments when I was angry and doubting because I forgot whose child I am. God will remind you. He will send you help to deal with your doubts. The devil has never done a good thing for me. I give him absolutely no power in my life. I can be mean and I reserve the right to use on those that would try to sway me. I recognize his minions and I stay away from them. I know and honor the source of my strength. I refuse to allow the devil to have any part in my march home. I want to be able to sit with the saints with a sense of pride, knowing that it was the Spirit of the Lord within me that brought me home in one piece.
Fred, you are a good man, a Godly man, just watch your back.

I certainly believe the devil and his angels are among us. Satan is not omniscient as God is, but whatever strongholds he has it is we who have given it to him.
Now are demon-spirits assigned regions? I don’t know the answer, but probably so. 1 John 4:4-6 (NIV) states that we are greater (as Christians) than he who is in the world (Satan). So I do believe we have prayer power over him and his demons. Throughout the Bible we are warned about and against him. Jesus even conversed with him in the desert. If one believes the accuracy of the Bible, he would know that he exists. The devil’s downfall is in Revelation 20 (NIV). James 4:7(NIV) commands us to flee from the devil. Where he is, I don’t know. But yes, he does exist and uses the authority he has to hurt countries that do not cry out to God.
