Can People Be Set Free From Homosexuality?
Churches for ages, have struggled with discussing the issue of Homosexuality in a rational way. I thought we would continue our discussion on this topic today. It seems that when most churches talk about the subject of homosexuality, they tend to talk about rather it is right or wrong to live a gay lifestyle. Very few times do we Christians have a deep discussion on what it takes for a person to give up a lifestyle that seems so right to them regardless of what Scripture says?
For me, homosexual desires in a gay person are the same as lust or pornography desires in a heterosexual. According to scripture, they are all outward manifestations of our fallen state as human beings. Temptation is the same for both gays and heterosexuals in that the sin is not the tempting urges, but the fulfillment of those urges. It’s not the temptation of homosexuality or any other sexual sin for that matter, but rather how we respond to the temptation that leads us to sin. Healing for the homosexual or heterosexual person comes when the controlling power of the sexual sin is broken. Only then, can a person be truly healed and delivered.
Can a person be set free from their sexual sin, I say absolutely! I’m a living testimony of a person who has been delivered from all kinds of past sexual sins and I’ve witnessed deliverance in many more lives in my years of ministry.
But what about you fellow bloggers? Are you brave enough to answer the question? Anyone want to share about a past sexual sin you overcame in your life either by yourself or with the aid of God?

This blog continues to stir the mind. That is a positive comment.
Homosexuality is sin, just like many others. Through the years homosexuality has been popular (as is today), then again in another age, unpopular. I could discuss this point until I am blue in the face, but nobody will change their mind or lifestyle until they turn themselves over to God and ask Him for His help. 1 Corinthians addresses this problem, as do many other scriptures. Either one believes the Bible, or they don’t, or they dilute God’s word to fit their lifestyles. I rode the fence for years with Jesus; and my truest happiness has been submitting my self completely to His will.
Please don’t use the word “homophobic” when reading my writing. That is an awful word used to promote homosexuality. And yes, I have known many homosexuals in my life, and none of them, I believe, would have a bad thing to say about me.

Exodus International is group of former homosexuals that work to get others to renounce their lifestyles. “Exodus-International.org” is their web-page. <><

This is one of the most bogus and ridiculous articles I’ve seen in years.
Curing homosexuals or homosexuality is in fact irrelevant.
It comes to mind if we in fact were an inclusive society based on the scripural understanding then we’d love our neighbors as ourselves.
Aren’t we all either gay or straight made in the image of God?

Absolutely ridiculous. This guys blog is a waste of time. I am no homosexual but find the idea of making someone straight to be absolutely ignorant. Take this guy off…I say guy because I don’t care who he preaches to, he is an idiot.

It is also sin as listed in the bible to have sex before marriage.
Isn’t one sin not greater than the other?
Yet you find churches who not only accept couples who are not married, but have children together- etc as “normal” yet gays aren’t?
I have a brother who is gay. No one was surprised by his pronouncement. I believe gays are born that way and are not intentionally sinning in the world. I can’t fathom someone making me gay, so how can we make someone straight?
Let’s be fair. Sex before marriage is as big a sin as a man having relations with another man. Yet one is accepted and tolerated while the other is not.
(and it would be ridiculous to cast out those single unmarried mothers from the church, yet we push gays AWAY from the church all the time).

Sexual sin is sexual sin wether it’s homosexual or heterosexual. Like “Wacomom” said sex before marriage is also a sin. But God can help anyone turn from their sin and live a Godly life. Sexual sin has become so commonplace and accepted that when you say you plan to remain a virgin until marriage people think something is wrong with you. Remember God hates all sin not just homosexuality.
To that one poster not standing in judgment of someone doesn’t mean you have to accept their sin as being a good thing. One problem with the church today is that to many people are pointing out sin in other peoples lives but hidding the sin in their own life.

According to the bible, homosexuality is a sin. That does not mean, God hates the sinner. If that be the case, who could be saved? Jesus died for me even though I was buried in sin. Now, with him in my life, I have overcome so many areas of sin. If that is possible for me, why not a person with homosexuality. This is not a message of hate, but of how having God in your life can help you overcome sin and truly know the life He planned for us.

All folks reading, I believe this blog to be very forward thinking. It seems the gay community cannot stand being brought up or brought out. Where is that anger coming from; it happens everytime. If you are so upset, something is wrong somewhere. Anger comes from our free-will, or the Devil, the father of lies. I do not have an answer for homosexuals except for the word of God, the Bible. It says what it says. I follow it, others don’t. Don’t read the Bible and invent your own God, or use verses just to fit you. Etymology is studying scripture in light of scripture. Man, I could justify anything if I read one scripture at a time. If you want to remain homosexual, go ahead. I judge not.
Now, if you are a Christian, and are a practicing homosexual, I believe you WILL go to Heaven. I am a sober drunk, but God helped me through drinking and now I am more obedient to His word, and brother, life cannot be any better for me because I listened.

“Exodus-international.org” Please call it up. Doctors say I was born alcoholic. I have worked, and will continue to work on this until the day I die. Many of us are born predisposed to cancer. Did God create me that way? I guess so. Who am I to argue?

God created mankind (and woman kind) with sexual organs. God created mankind with sexual desire. Sexual sin…..oxymoron. The idea of sexual sin conflicts with God’s original creation of mankind with human sexual organs and human sexual desire. God created humanbeings with a craving and desire for sex. In a since; God created lustful creatures (in nature as well). Sexual sin? Or does God have a very good sense of humor?

I had to pray before I responded to Allen’s comment. I believe that My Pastor, Joe Carbajal, is opening up our minds to discussion we wouldn’t have or feel comfortable having in certain settings. For you to have such a passionate response to the blogs, that you are obviously reading, I would have expected a more supported answer rather than “he’s an idiot”. Quite the contrary Allen MY Pastor is no idiot, trust me, he is one of the most intelligent men I have ever met!

Whether or not you agree with the article, the facts are there, people sill want to do what they want, when and however it pleases them. Calling someone a idiot will not change the facts about issues in the world. Sin is evident in all our lives, even the intelligent. Whether you can easily see it or not. People don’t want to see change in something they themselves can not understand. It is time to pray and bring “God” back into our lives.

The good news is that people can be set free from religion. Don’t be afraid to think for yourself and see beyond the myths you were raised to believe.

Not only can people choose to free themselves of religion, it is God’s way. His design gave us that choice. We live by the consequences.
Great blog, Pastor. May I suggest … What does Jesus really want from me - daily - and how can I learn to sense His pleasure in my company?

Joe, can we start discussing some topics that Jesus specifically addresses in the gospels?

Pastor Joe, as I am sure you have thought, this blog drew quite a response. “WacoMom”, you are a very bright person who obviously cares about this certain blog. Thank you. But I must question what churches you refer to because you are calling all churches either this or that when it comes to sin, and I do not believe that is fair. Our church welcomes everyone, but does not condone the practicing homosexuals nor couples living together in sin, and I pray they will not come to our church until reconciled. This is biblical, not my own opinion.
As I have stated (but no one seems to read all the entries) is that we all carry burdens and Jesus Christ died to carry those burdens away from us. A homosexual is always going to have homosexual feelings; an alcoholic is most always going to want to drink; a pedophile will fight those lusts he has for life; a cancer-ridden patient cannot do anything more than God allows to be cured. These are things we are all born with, as with many others.
Also, nobody wants to mention the above stated web-sit “Exodus”. Personally, I don’t drink because I am alcoholic, the way I was made. I have terminal brain cancer, which God allowed me to have. I am still a smoker, and won’t argue that point. I am a sinner. Be a man, or be a woman and own up to what you have been given. My wife is most God-given thing I have, and we met again, then married during this past summer. Some think I have a bad lot in life…my life is better now than it has been since I can remember. We will all bow before Jesus one day to give an account of our lives. Remember that Jesus Christ loves you, loves me, loves everyone. Love is a great responsibiltiy, but I know I am innocent. <><

The entry is in response to CK The vision for the blog is to discuss articles in the news and how we should apply the word of God to those situations. My feeling is that sooner or later, you will hear me refer to things Jesus spoke about as we continue our dialogue. But if i have a slow day, I will be most happen to write a conplete blog about the topics spoken of by Jesus. But wouldn’t that possibly stop the dialogue because doesn’t he have the final say??? Ha! Ha! Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok ! some people are getting off the focus’ we all know the bible in some way’ Sin is sin no matter what we want to cover it with. No need to state your sin, it’s obvious we all have secret demons that we deal with everyday. This man is not judging anyone, he is simply stating his belief and we are reading what he believes. If we would really examine ourselves, and not point fingers to blame other for our own life, we would be able to see that there is truth in the “WORD”, not the man who is just writing down his beliefs. There is a verse in the bible ….. Ezekiel 12:2 Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of the rebellious house, that have eyes to see, and see not, that have ears to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house. Just maybe we are not hearing what we do not understand, because of where we are now?

Change, yes. Be happy , no…I fought with this issue a great deal. Once i handed my life over to God i wanted to make sure every choice i made is pleasing to God. I await on his voice and am open minded. I found that being who i am set me free and gave me more peace than i ever had living a lie. I commend the people that choose to live alone and in missory just to please the people of their church. A member of my church i feel lives this life and i cant imagine how that person gets through it. When you are in the closet it is a sufficating feeling. I chose to seek God instead of listening to the majority of christians. I searched in my bible, i got my answer and i am proud to say i am gay, but a christian First. Like the member in my church, He CHOOSES not to be himself, I chose to face the truth and i KNOW i am exactly where God wants me to be.
