Holly Tucker Releases New CD After Winning Prestigious Statewide Music Competition

Holly+TuckerLocal musician Holly Tucker will perform along with Waco saxophonist Greg Bashara at 7 pm Thur. Sept. 8 at Vitek’s Outdoor Concert Pavillion located off I-35 at 17th Street. Holly will officially be releasing her 4th CD, “Love Is What She Likes.” The Scott Moody Band of Ft. Worth will accompany the soloists. Bashara plays on 5 tracks on Holly’s new CD. Steve Palousek of Awesome Works Recording in Holland, TX, the CD producer will also perform steel guitar at the concert.

Independent, country music recording artist Holly has chosen to partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to increase awareness and raise funds by giving all the proceeds from CD sales on Thur., plus a portion of the food sales at Vitek's for the local MDA chapter. The concert is free, but donations for MDA are accepted. Holly also performed last Sat. Sept. 3 at the chili cook-off/fundraiser for MDA at Harley-Davidson of Waco.

Texas+Country+Music+Hall+of+FameHolly is well known in Central Texas and her fame is spreading throughout Texas. A few weeks ago she sang at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame 2011 Induction Ceremony for Mickey Gilley and Mo Bandy. Holly earned the performance honor by winning the John Ritter Showcase competition among 30 finalists. In June open auditions for singers was held to determine the finalists. Then the finalists competed the night before the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony before a crowd of over 1,000. Holly won 1st place. Holly also won a singing engagement in Branson, a recording package from a well-known Dallas recording studio where Mel Tillis records, and numerous other performance engagements throughout 2012. Holly is currently a student at Baylor University majoring in Business Marketing of the Music and Entertainment division. She also plays alto sax in the Baylor Golden Wave Band.

It's January, 2012, and Holly begins her duties as the 2012 representative of The Hall of Fame. It promises to be a great year, as she travels in support of her new CD. She has also been named one of 5 new artists for Baylor University's UPROAR Records, the student-led record label for Baylor. There will be an UPROAR CD, this Spring, featuring Holly, and all the new artists. Stay tuned for more info.
