DALLAS — Following the Art Briles firing, Baylor lost four of its best 2016 recruits to Texas.

They included Silsbee offensive lineman Patrick Hudson, Copperas Cove offensive lineman J.P. Urquidez and Sachse twins Devin and Donovan Duvernay. Devin was one of the fastest high school receivers in the country while Donovan is a versatile defensive back.

Texas coach Charlie Strong isn’t sure whether they’ll play as true freshmen this season or redshirt.

“It’s so hard to tell right now because we haven’t started practice,” Strong said. “But you look at the two Duvernays right there now with Pat Hudson and with J.P. Not only are they good players, but

they’re unbelievable young men, great character guys.”

Since they’ve only come on board during the past few weeks, Strong wants to make sure the rest of his squad welcomes them.

“That’s why I told our team it’s about us pulling them in, joining together and don’t ever make them feel like they don’t belong because they do belong and they’re going to be a part of the success here,” Strong said.
