Restaurant row on Franklin Avenue is getting its swagger back.

You may have read last week about a chain called Raising Cane’s buying the former Krystal’s building, with plans to demolish it and build a new diner specializing in chicken fingers.

Expect it to open in March or April.

Now Bobby Horner, a plans examiner at Waco City Hall, said he’s received drawings from a group that wants to remodel the TGIFriday’s building that went vacant in February, when the chain didn’t renew its lease.

General contractor Chang Gu, of Houston, said construction should begin in two to three weeks and will last about five months. The new restaurant will be called Tokyo Steakhouse & Seafood.
