Reaction to the new Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant, has been great, said general manager Mark Strouse. It opened Thursday at 4212 Franklin Ave.

“The response has been wonderful. I’m from Waco, so it’s great to see the community surround us, to see people I haven’t seen in a while,” said Strouse who resides in Hewitt with his family.

He is already courting the Baylor University crowd. He threw the first pitch at Baylor’s baseball game last Sunday against Oklahoma State.

Todd Graves opened the first Raising Cane’s in 1996 near the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge. Due in part to its secret sauce, it has grown to 91 restaurants in 14 states.
